Technical Corrections Bill
As you’ll recall the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA) that was enacted into law in August of 2006 included a few charitable reform provisions. Now, we understand that staff has begun drafting a technical corrections bill to the PPA. Technical corrections, in the vast majority of cases, are, as the name implies, mostly small, technical, non-controversial changes to legislation. In most cases, the change is made because a provision, as enacted, would serve a purpose that the legislators did not intend. However, there have been a very small number of instances where attempts were made to use the technical corrections process to attach additional provisions to the underlying bill. While we have no reason to expect this to happen in this instance, we will keep a close eye on the deliberations.
As this process unfolds, we will keep you updated. Of course, if you have any questions/comments, please contact us at 202.466.8700.
Good Works Production
As some of you may know, with the help of Dr. Michael Guillen and the John Templeton Foundation, there will be a documentary produced on the good works of foundations in America.
The goal of the documentary is to emphasize stories of foundations doing great work in America and across the world.
If your foundation would like to submit a story that you think is particularly compelling, please email us at chris@acreform.com.
